Creating a night palette

You can create a night palette in two stages:

• Darken the palette - which is the opposite of brightening it (see Adjusting the brightness of a palette or image above)

• Adding a tint of the background color into the palette (see Mixing color from the background into a color model above).

The procedure is as follows:

1. Choose the palette you wish to use as the basis for the night palette; then copy that palette, and load the copy for correction. See Loading a palette for color correction.

2. Load the background from which you're blending colors:

1. Choose Image > Add Background on InkPaint's menu.

2. Select the background in the dialog box that appears; see Locating a file.

The background appears behind the character.

3. Make the palette darker:

• If you're using Advanced mode, use the Saturation slider and/or the Brightness graph; see Using Advanced mode.

• If you're using HSV mode, adjust the Saturation and/or Value; see Using HSV mode. If you change between these, don't forget to lock; see Clearing and locking corrections.

4. Lock the darker palette, so you don't lose the changes you've made; see Clearing and locking corrections.

5. Tint the palette with the dominant color from the background; see Using Tint mode.

6. Save the corrected palette; see Applying a correction to disk.
